Birchwood's coconut cream pie is a decadent dessert that requires more than a few forks to get the job done. But that's part of its charm. Set aside an hour or so, bring a friend, and order up some bottomless coffees. The two go hand in hand.
With a dense, nutty filling chock full of toasted coconut, the pie is rich and very sweet. Curlicues of unsweetened whipped cream are piped high on top in true 1950s diner fashion. A thin layer of dark chocolate lines the bottom of the slice to offset the sweetness.
