What is the Minnesota Music Directory?

The Minnesota Music Directory is the Minnesota music industry’s reference guide, available annually in print and online versions. Used by musicians, music professionals, industry people and music enthusiasts alike, the Minnesota Music Directory serves as a vital guide and contact book to Minnesota music.

At this time, we only accept listings from businesses in Minnesota. We will include listings for bands that do tour in Minnesota, but be prepared to prove it!

PRINT EDITION: (25,000 circulated)

The Minnesota Music Directory is available for FREE beginning February 27, 2008 at key locations around the Twin Cities. Distribution locations are chosen to target the music industry such as record stores, studios, booking agencies, instrument retailers, nightclubs and other related businesses. The print edition of the Minnesota Music Directory is trimmed and stapled to ensure longevity and frequency of use.

ONLINE EDITION:

The Minnesota Music Directory is available on citypages.com year-round. The online component is searchable by category, keyword or music genre. Listings can be updated throughout the year.

 

How Do I Get Listed?

Go to the MN Music Directory main page, click on the "Get Listed!" link, and fill out the form. Online entries will receive contact information plus 30 character-long descriptions for FREE.

What Are the Listing Deadlines for the 2008 Minnesota Music Directory?

THE LISTING DEADLINE FOR THE 2008 Minnesota Music Directory is Friday, February 8th at 5 p.m. NO EXCEPTIONS!  If you submit by the February 8th deadline, your listing will appear in the 2008 print version.

If you are currently listed in the 2007 Minnesota Music Directory, you will be notified no later than January 16th to update your listing. Please make sure your email and/or mailing address are current in order to ensure notification.

If you miss the Friday, February 8th deadline, you will still be able to submit online but your listing will not be included in the print version.

 

Can I call in changes to my listing?

Nope. To ensure accuracy, the only way we will we accept changes/deletions/additions is by online submission (or faxed/mailed forms) by the 2008 print submission entry deadline of Friday, February 8th at 5 pm.

 

What if there is an error or change in my listing?

If you find any errors in the print or online editions, please contact Holly Hunt by email at mmd@citypages.com or by phone (612) 375-1015.

If you would like to make a change to your listing, simply resubmit your entire listing (with changes) by using the online form.

 

Are Listings Free?

If you are registering online, by mail or fax, listings are FREE up to 30 characters (characters include punctuation and spaces).

 

How do I pay for my deluxe listing?

We accept payments through the City Pages Store – an online payment system.

Payments can be made by cash, money order, check or credit card.

You can drop off your payment or mail checks or money orders (payable to City Pages) to the above address. Please address envelopes to the attention of: Minnesota Music Directory. Please also include your band or business name so we know which listing you are paying for. If you want to pay by credit card or Telecheck, please call Holly Hunt at (612) 375-1015.

Neither Select nor Deluxe listings will be posted until payment has been received.

 

What if I don’t want the deluxe listing but want to have a text description over 30 characters?

Sorry – the only way to receive additional characters, the bold print feature, etc. is by upgrading your listing package. Plus you will receive so many more additional features with the purchase of a Select or Deluxe listing package! You can’t go wrong on this deal!

What are the musical genres for?

The genre section of the MMD form is only used to perform searches by music genre online.

Genres are NOT included in the print edition of the Minnesota Music Directory.

Musicians are not required to select genres, it is simply an additional feature for the benefit of our online users. Musicians may choose up to four genres that describe their music. Please note: we realize that not every genre of music is represented. If you do not see the genre that reflects your music, please describe your type of music in the description area of your listing.

 

What if my genre of music is not represented?

Not every genre of music is represented. We apologize if your genre is omitted from our list. If you do not see the genre that reflects your music, please describe your type of music in the description area of your listing. Suggestions for genres are always welcome – please email us at mmd@citypages.com

 

How will I know if my listing is received?

If you submit a listing online and DO NOT receive an error message, you may assume that we have received your listing.  

 

Will I get a proof or confirmation of my listing?

Confirmations or proofs are not provided for any listings. Listings will appear exactly the way they are submitted, assuming they are submitted correctly. Please complete the listing form carefully.

 

What is the difference between the print and online versions?

PRINT EDITION:

25,000 copies of the print edition are distributed in early March and are available FREE to the public from key distribution locations. Distribution locations include record stores, studios, booking agencies, instrument retailers, nightclubs and other related businesses. The print edition of the Minnesota Music Directory is trimmed and stapled to ensure longevity and frequency of use.

 

 

ONLINE EDITION:

The online edition includes keyword and genre searches and is updateable year round.  Online advertising is available. Please contact your account executive or Jeff Hunsaker at (612) 375-1015.

What if my band or business is out of state?

At this time, we only accept listings from businesses in Minnesota. We will include listings for bands that do tour in Minnesota, but be prepared to prove it!

 

Why isn’t an address or zip code included on my band listing?

We do this to avoid distributing complete address lists. And unless you’re stuck jamming in the basement, we’d like to think that folks don’t need to know where you live.

We will, however, include addresses on business listings.

 

What if I owe for a Select or Deluxe listing package and don’t pay?

It is your responsibility to get your payment to City Pages. If we do not receive payment, we will either omit your listing altogether or edit your listing at our discretion to within the acceptable free length.
