Before the brave new world of Matt Drudge and pop-up ads, Julie Caniglia wrote this 1993 article about a Pentagon computer network--or "the Internet," as it was just starting to be known.

Later, in 1995, CP would become one of the first local publications, and first alternative weeklies anywhere, to launch its own website. And in 2003 it became the first weekly newspaper in the country to feature blogs by staff writers.
