Contrary to legend, the Replacements were not on the cover of the first Sweet Potato/City Pages--that distinction belongs to The Cars--but this early feature by PD Larson (and the weekly column Martian Chronicles, by the indefatigable Martin Keller) captured what the paper did best in its early days: smart, up-close reviews and reportage on entertainment and the arts for a new crop of post-collegiate baby boomers--with a pronounced emphasis on the Minneapolis music scene.
