City Pages Freelance Writing Guidelines
While it's true that we're rather picky when it comes to assigning and running freelance material, we are always on the lookout for talented writers. Gather your best samples together (three writing clips or stories ought to do it) along with a short note describing the type of work you'd like to do, and mail them to:
khoffman@citypages.com or msmith@citypages.com:

If you have a specific story you'd like to pitch, please outline it in 500 words or less and send it, along with clips, to either of the above addresses. We are interested in essays and reportage alike, both arts and news related. Please paper mail or email your materials. Don't call out of the blue. Due to the volume of queries we receive, we are unable to respond to every letter or return clips. Be wise: send copies, not originals.
Our rates vary depending on the type and scope of each piece, but you might expect to earn around $20 for an A-list blurb, between $50 and $150 for a short review, and, of course, much more for a feature story. We make a point of paying promptly.
