Artistry, a creative initiative at the Bloomington Center for the Arts, will be attracting serious attention with its new exhibition of work by Katayoun Amjadi and Ellie Kingsbury. The pomegranate is at the center of Amjadi’s sculptural installations, in which universal symbol and personal expression meet in riveting displays of color, texture, and form. Kingsbury’s black-and-white photographs are no less arresting, with a focus on the mutating, evolving energies at the heart of nature. In both artists’ work the mundane is elevated to the iconic. There will be an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 13; and an artists’ talk at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 31.
