For Alexa Horochowski’s first show at Highpoint Center, the artist is exhibiting a collection of pieces that were made using a wind vortex. To create the drawings, she set up eight barrel fans to simulate the intense winds that happen in nature, bringing natural and toxic materials together in a swirling eddy. Her laboratory was set up on the third floor of the Soap Factory in southeast Minneapolis. There, she coated a variety of natural and human-made materials with graphite, ink, and oils. See the results, which comment on the impact of humans in natural realms, at the gallery.
