Big Brain Comics

A household name for hardcore comic-lovers, this architecturally awesome storefront boasts shelves upon shelves of mainstream and indie comics, graphic novels, and 'zines. Michael Drivas is at the helm of this geek mecca. If you walk in expecting Minnesota Nice, you might have to look elsewhere. This is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get operation. Customer service is not its strong suit; selection is. Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Manga, erotica — it's all here. You just have to find it. Because inventory is stacked spines-out, veteran shoppers recommend going with a list and allotting plenty of browsing time. Word on the street is that Big Brain will be closing this summer. Its legacy will live on, however, as it has already inspired a new generation of comic-book readers.
