Most people think of the margarita as a summery, sunshine-y kind of drink. But we in the Twin Cities have plenty of dark days that also deserve celebrating, with a taco in one hand and a tequila sipper in the other. That's exactly what makes Sonora Grill's freshly squeezed, pepper-infused version, the Obregon, so ideal. Using Camarena Silver tequila, a particularly earthy, grassy version of the spirit, as a base, Sonora's capable bar staff muddles Serrano peppers with fresh basil and lots of lime to mix up this marg. In addition to its pleasingly spicy side, the Obregon has a true pucker factor, too — just sour enough to counteract the drink's sweetness, which is appropriately minimal. So keep your mango purees and pomegranate seeds to yourself, because this is pants-down, limes-out the best twist on a classic margarita in town.
