Twin Cities jam band New Sound Underground formed in 2009 and quickly gained a rep for their riveting and energetic stage performance. It's hard to pin down their exact sound, but there's funk, fusion, soul, jazz, rock, and even gospel mixed in there. The band calls it "superfunk." They've packed local venues like the Dakota and Cabooze, become fixtures of the festival scene, and have even graced the stage at Prince's Paisley Park. Music is about bringing people together, and the talented musicians of New Sound Underground do just that. Their well-developed sound caters to both carefree and careful listeners alike.
