No other restaurant holds our St. Paul-loving hearts like the charming and elegant Meritage. From the zinc-topped bar to the patina on the mirrors, the main dining room was made for falling in love. The spot-on service is always helpful, never intrusive, and seems to come with such ease you almost forget how difficult great service is to master. Russell Klein's kitchen turns out expertly seasoned dishes, like the sunshine-colored chicken matzo ball soup or the perfectly cooked steak au poivre. When we swipe a crispy cooked frite through a pool of tarragon-flecked béarnaise sauce, we fall in love with Meritage all over again.
