The holidays always seem to present the dilemma of the hard-to-shop-for friend or relative — the person who has it all, who likes nothing, or whose tastes run so obscure or expensive it's hard to tell just what they're going to love. You really can't go wrong with handmade holiday gifts — cute and out of the ordinary or screaming, "Look, I put a lot of time into finding this unique gift for you so you're going to like it!" so that your recipient is bound to be satisfied. You can find lots of handmade options at the annual No Coast Craft-o-Rama, held at the Midtown Global Market in early December. Put on by Crafters Local 612, a nonprofit organization "dedicated to providing organizational leadership to underserved craftspeople and artists in the upper Midwest," this event is very popular — plan to attend on Friday to beat the weekend crowds — and has done so well that last year it expanded to an outdoor summer event in St. Anthony's Silverwood Park. Whether you're looking for holiday greeting cards, a cigar-box banjo, adorable baby onesies, or just a bar of soap, you can not only find a one-of-a-kind gift but know that you've supported local artists and artisans in your holiday shopping.
