The last thing the world needs is another tired Beatles compilation. But right from the start, the Minnesota Beatle Project has been anything but a boring, predictable undertaking, as each successive volume captured locally based bands breathing some new life into classic songs by the Beatles. Volume 3 is the best collection yet, with plenty of fresh takes on some deeper cuts in the Fab Four's extensive back catalog by diverse Minnesota artists like Tapes 'n Tapes, the 4ontheFloor, Cloud Cult, Solid Gold, and the Honeydogs. The charity project was established to raise money and awareness for music and art programs in public schools. And this volume even includes a rousing performance of "A Hard Day's Night" by the Anoka Middle School for the Arts concert band, who received a music grant made possible from the sales of the first volume of this series, making the group the first beneficiary of the project to appear on one of the albums.
