The Twin Cities is chock full of incredible ice cream shops: Grand Ole Creamery and Izzy's in St. Paul, Sebastian Joe's, Crema Café (home of Sonny's Ice Cream), and Pumphouse Creamery in Minneapolis. Each specializes in something a little different, but this year we chose an ice cream parlor that offers creative flavors made from the purest organic ingredients. The shop on Chicago Avenue is tiny, but the flavors are big. We recommend lemon with ginger, which goes down with a clean, tart finish. The sea salt, caramel, and praline pecan is also a crowd-pleaser, merging just the right bit of sweet and savory. Traditionalists can always choose basic vanilla, chocolate, or organic strawberry, made with berries from Minnesota and the St. Croix Valley.
