This place is cold. Let's just come out and say it. Sometimes it's so cold your boogers freeze with just one boot out the door. There are those with the constitution and the disposition to explore the out-of-doors in these conditions, but why? If you'd rather curl up than suit up when icy death rattles its sickle against your wintertime window, you can still explore these Twin Cities—and you have the internet to thank. Specifically, you can thank the Twin Cities Photo Pool on Flickr, the popular post-your-own-photos site. The amateur and pro photographers who post to the pool get under the bridges, on top of the buildings, and in the middle of the street so you don't have to. And it's a sham of art, we know, but sometimes this place looks prettier in pictures. So walk across the Grain Belt Bridge, stand at the foot of the storied Foshay Tower, walk the banks of the mighty muddy Mississippi, and listen to the bang of your old radiator or the slow drip of your coffeemaker while you do it. Leave the frozen boogers to the Northface types—you've got some exploring to do!
